InteRussia archaeology internship program

The InteRussia program provides young specialists in the field of archaeology with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the scientific research and archaeological environment of Russia. As part of the internship, participants will visit leading museums and archaeological sites, including those outside Moscow, take part in expert sessions at university venues, and exchange professional experience with colleagues from different countries. Special attention in the program is given to practical archaeological work and field research.

The internship will take place from June 1 to June 27, 2026. Venue: Moscow, Russia. Working language: English.

Requirements:

• citizenship of one of the countries of the post-Soviet space, the Middle East and North Africa, India, or Pakistan;
• residence outside the Russian Federation;
• absence of educational or labor relations with Russian educational organizations and employers at the time of application (the candidate must not be studying at Russian educational institutions or be in labor relations with Russian organizations);
• age 25–40 years;
• professional English language proficiency (no lower than B2 level);
• scientific status: work experience in a scientific organization, a think tank, or doctoral studies;
• research plan: presentation of an individual project during the internship.

How to participate?

1. Register on the English version of the Gorchakov Fund website: https://en.gorchakovfund.ru/. If you do not receive a registration confirmation email, check your “Spam” folder.
2. Go to the “My Projects” section, click the “Create Application” button, select the “InteRussia Archaeology 2026” competition, and click “Yes.”
3. Fill in all mandatory fields.
4. Attach a link to your portfolio to the application.
5. In the “Submit Application” section, click the “Submit Application” button and wait for the status to change from “Preparation” to “Submitted.”

Participation terms The organizers provide:

• travel from the intern’s place of residence to Moscow and back;
• double accommodation in a hotel;
• a stipend for the duration of the internship in the amount of 30,000 rubles.

Participants pay for:

• medical insurance;
• visa processing fee;
• meals during the internship.
