Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Korean Embassy in Ashgabat is now accepting applications for scholarships, Master’s and Doctoral degree Programs

The National Institute of International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea is currently accepting applications from international students for the Government Master Scholarship Program for the year 2025. Students who wish to apply should read the attached instructions and apply at our embassy. (⇒ Embassy Selection.)

* When selecting by university track rather than embassy track, you need to apply separately according to the instructions, and in this case our embassy is not involved in the selection process.

Degrees in the program: Master’s degree, doctoral degree

– (Master’s degree) Korean language training – 1 year, program of study – 2 years

– (Doctoral) Korean language training – 1 year, program of study – 3 years.

* Only selected candidates who have a Korean language proficiency certificate (TOPIK) above level 5 are exempted from Korean language training.

Available Fields of Study

– All academic fields established by the GKS participating universities

– Academic programs offered during evenings (night school), short-term programs, online

and distant-learning programs are not applicable in this scholarship program.

– Applicants can only apply to the universities and departments that are listed in the

‘University Information’ file attached under the GKS Notice post in Study in Korea website.

Who can apply:

Turkmen citizens under the age of 40 (born after September 1, 1985)

– (Master’s Degree) Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree or higher, or planning to obtain a Bachelor’s degree as of July 31, 2025.

– (Doctoral) Individuals who have a master’s degree or higher, or plan to obtain a master’s degree as of July 31, 2025.

Language ability

– Applicants who are expected to complete the IRTS Korean language program by August 2025 are eligible to apply if they have achieved a TOPIK, TOPIK IBT Level 3 or higher.

Note: Accepted certificates include TOPIK results from the 87th to the 100th exams and TOPIK IBT

results from the 1st to the 7th exams. (Applicants who have not yet obtained a valid TOPIK certificate at the time of application may still apply.)

* If you are unable to travel between regions, you can apply by Turkmenpost (note: application by e-mail will not be accepted).

– Announcement of selected candidates in the first stage of selection and interview date: will be individually notified after March 14 (Friday) 2025.
